One of my favourite RnB vocalists of 2013 was SZA. That voice! That hair! The whole package was absolutely dynamite and her seductive, kicked-back modern RnB styling and delivery felt almost deceptively mature for her 24 years.

Perhaps not that unexpectedly mature however, when you consider that SZA is the first lady of TDE – Top Dawg Entertainment – where she stands shoulder to shoulder with some huge Hip Hop talents such as Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q.

‘Sobriety’ is SZA’s latest outing, and shows her voice is in perfect form. Her jazzy, off beat delivery of her trademark husky flow lounges over a classic beat that lets the vocals really shine. The track boasts a total of five producers – Chris Calor, Cody, Thundercat, LoveDragon and Sounwave – but somehow even with all those cooks the track manages to be perfectly understated.
