Maribou State arrived on the post-dubstep UK underground in 2011 with a series of vibrant, vocally driven, electronic releases on Fat! and Southern Fried Records. The duo quickly made a reputation for themselves with their ‘Olivia’ and ‘Maribou State’ EPs as beat makers with a strong sense of melody; ‘tears on the dance floor’ type productions that were as moving as they were really good to dance to.

The pair are now back and their latest EP offering is gorgeous. ‘Rituals’ has a downbeat, melancholy vocal with a percussive beat and a wall of synth sound that builds up throughout. ‘Raincoats’ is slower still, with lingering samples of their beautiful 2014 reworking of Kelis ‘Friday Fish Fry’ in the lushly arranged synths.

The ‘Rituals’ EP is out now on 12″ on Counter Records.
