Ash Walker has just released his LP Echo Chamber and it is seriously accomplished. We’ve been on Walker’s brand of trip hop soul for some time – and this album is a very welcome return. With live instrumentation, jazz, trip hop and reggae flourishes and low-fi soul vocals Echo Chamber is a blend of cool understated production and real musical verve.

Tracks like ‘Glacier’ show Walker at his nu-school trip hop best, where as ‘Thunder’, featuring the vocals of Lord Laville, is a much jazzier, soul number. Echo Chamber is an album you can listen to from start to finish and really showcases the diverse influential strings that make up Walker’s musical bow.

Catch Ash Walker trio playing live at Tripspace London, Monday 12th December. Echo Chamber is out now on Deep Heads.
